Default Chrome switch housing covers

Picked up a set of HD chrome switch covers. Has anyone installed them? What is the trick to get the crimped throttle cable inserts off the housing? Instructions say "For best results, use a rocking motion while pulling" There small retaining clips on the inside of the housing that seem to be holding them in place, but the is no way to remove them.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you mean the brass ferrules that hold the cable endsin the throttle tube? If so, they should slide right out once you loosen the threaded cable adjusters...just keep an eye on those little brass bas*ards..they are easy to lose. (I know! )

Yhe small retaining clips will fit through the mounts, they are just a little tight. As stated, rock back and forth while pulling. Takes a bit but they should pop right out.

Yes, just wiggle and pull. I hope you followed the instructions and put a piece of cardboard or something in the brake lever or you can damage the brake lightswitch inside the housing.

I just put a drop of 3 in 1 oil on the retaining clip and give it a sharp pull.

I put the cardboard as stated....was wiggling one of the inserts gently, and the crimped tube part came off leaving the nipple still inside the housing???. I must have an extra snug one. I don't really want to put a pair of pliers to it, as I will likely mar it up. Maybe a little oil will help as DaveJ said.

When I did mine they came off with no problem but as I have learned on most of my installs.... don't be scared to get ruff ....some thing need care but most need a little force to make them see things your way....the little brass shim gave me the most trouble on the entire install...you'll get it done ....just hang in there
