Ok...managed to get them off.

How about the turn signal wires that are routed through the housing? Do I have to pull them back through the handle bars, or can they be disconected from the actual light fixture??

What in the hell are you talking about? Are you using the direction? The wires simply get unscrewed from both the upper and lower housings in tact and get reinstalled in the new housings. You simple cut the small wire tie and then unscrew (or untorx) the whole clump. Read dude!
