I installed chrome switch covers on my 06 Ultra. Easy job and they look great.
But, the idle cable is loose where it goes into the switch housing. Are the little keepers on
the end of the housing replaceable or do I need to replace the cable? Always good
experienced help and I really appreciate it
Mine feel a little loose too, but I can't easily pull them away from the bottom of the housing due to the c-clip. Is your c-clip in place and did it slip up into the housing? Can be a bear sometimes to get it in there. Or is it possibly still sitting below the housing thus not seating the cable?
Thanks for the info. I have adjusted both cables by the book, but the idle cabble housing
is loose and hangs down a little. Do they just use a C-clip? The throttle cable is fine and as snug as should be. I think the keeper may have broken when I inserted the housing back into the switch housing. I wounder if you can just replace the c-cllip or do you have to replace the cable it'self.
Thanks for the replys.
I just put new cables on mine this weekend. mine did not have c lips in the housing , just snapped in. Mine seem to be tighter than the old ones and feels like it is sticking.
I am going to re oil them this morning and see if this will free them up a little.
I just took mine back apart and when I fed the cables under the tank one of them was in a bind, I took both of them back off and this time I watched the route the took and saw where they crossed, fixed that and they are both free and easy to twist and snap back like they should. I also shot some oil through them while the were unhooked on both ends. It was a minor bend where the bind was but enough to make it not work properly.
