Default Loose Throttle Cable

So I bought chrome switch housings and am having a problem with the return cable falling out/not snapping into place. The other one snaps in and is tight. Is there supposed to be a c-clip to hold it on or is the hole in the new housing too large. Thanks.

I thought they had threads on them.. mine do, they screw into the switch housing...
also.. you can use the cable adjuster to make it a bit more snug..

Yeah there is supposed to be a small clip of some sort on the end of the cable. Never looked that close to see exactly how they attach. The cables should just push in and click into place in the switch housing. Maybe your clip got stuck in your old switch housing when you removed it? I am really just guessing. Good luck.

You didn't somehow switch the cables into the wrong holes did you? The throttle and idle cables are different sizes. You didn't force the big cable into the small hole? I hope.

Just had this problem with my throttle return cable. There is a very small clip on the end of the cable. I had to order one from HD, but in the meantime, I took my thumbnails and pulled the existing one further apart, sort of spread it open a bit further and that's all it took. I still have the new one in a bag (#11271 Retaining ring)for a 2002 FLHT.

Thanks for the help. I am tearing it back apart this weekend to see how these clips work.
