Didn't see this anywhere when I was initially researching switching to forward controls from floorboards. So I pulled the trigger from another member here in the classifieds. Forward controls do NOT put your feet any more forward than floorboards do. If anything they put them maybe an inch back? (This is HD forward controls not any aftermarket or the extended ones). They also put you a little higher than floorboards; so your lean angle is potentially increased if that's what you're looking for.
I'm somewhat average height/inseam at 6', and having forward controls upgraded on the Sportster figured it'd be similar. Nonetheless probably still going to stick with the forwards because the majority of my commute/riding is city, so not having these long 8-10" boards at my side in the way when putting my feet down during traffic or backing into street parking (the amount of times I've gotten hit in the shin was more than enough to make me change) is worth the not so forward positioning. Also forwards allows me to be a bit more comfortable while splitting.
Just figured I'd make this thread for anyone else searching to switch from boards to pegs since I couldn't find any other threads mentioning the actual foot position not being as forward as assumed
Additionally, another benefit to the footpegs over floorboards. I could never for my life get into neutral while having floorboards, tried both toe and heel shifter. Maybe would get it once every 30-50 tries or so? I had to shift into neutral using my hand which got annoying real quick. But as soon as I switched over to the forward controls I was instantly able to get into neutral every single time. Not sure if it's how your foot is angled but that's another + if anyone is having neutral issues

Probably has more to do with leverage, rather than foot angle. With pegs the fulcrum (your instep on the peg) is closer to the shifter, versus your heel being the fulcrum with boards.
