Default Security System

So I've had my Slim a couple of months now and pretty much like everything about it except for the security system. For me the key fob thing is a PIA and I'd be happy to get rid of this feature and just go back to a simple key system like all my other Harley's have had. What are my options?

I like the fob system and the security stuff on my 2018 FLHCS. You can probably rip it out and add a key if you want to spend the time and money. Go ahead and do that if it's that important to you, or just get an older bike and update those things on it that you want. Fobs on all of my cars, too. I'm just used to it, I guess.

What is it that you don't like about the security system?

You could just use the PIN override and the key and switch, or go a step further and replace the TSSM with a TSM.

I added the factory security system to mine and now just leave the ign switch unlocked and have the FOB in my pocket.

Just lock the forks, put the FOB into your pocket, and walk away. If you're more than about 7-10 feet away from the bike it won't start because the FOB isn't within it's range.

I guess it's a case of an old dog and new tricks. It's a technology I have no experience with and it seems like there is more potential for trouble with it. When it comes to electronics things work great when they're new and not so great the older they get. I'm a keep it simple kind of guy. I own three trucks, a 56, a 73 and the newest a 2,000. All easy to maintain and keep on the road. The same with the other motorcycles I own. Riding season is winding down for me. I'll see how I feel about it next year, if I still hasn't grown on me I will probably go with the TSM suggestion.

Electronics many years ago had a high infant mortality rate, but a very long life expectancy, and these days the infant mortality rate is also inconsequential.

I've had more trouble with carburettors than with my fuel injected vehicles, and the performance of fuel injection is far superior to carbs.

I grew up with old tech, but enjoy all the leaps and bounds that we see in technology these days.

I believe they can turn the security feature off with the digital tech or a couple other units like the centurion super pro (http://technoresearch.info/)? But I like having the fob on my 2017 FLSS.
