I don't understand what I am seeing in post 1. You are saying that bearing is item 12. It's just odd looking with that wear on OD. If your are loosing the needle bearings, I would immange your input shaft is worn out.
Guess that is a thin shell with rolled edges but that looks like the inner primary bearing race.

Those bearings have to both be installed to a very specific depth inside that gear, which varies from one end to the other. They make a special gauge for inserting them to the correct depth. Maybe that is the problem.
Do the Baker OD 6. Same gear ratios as the 5 speed plus an overdrive. Can be had as a kit to install in your 5 speed housing. Comes in 2.94 or 3.15? low gear. ~$2300 list plus install.
I have been seriously considering doing just that, I have wanted to do it since I found out about the Baker 6 speed. My only hesitation is I just paid off all my credit card debt and this would put me right back into debt, not as much as I paid off but it is the first step. I haven't even had enough time to enjoy being debt free yet. I am thankful everyday for what I have and what I am able to afford. Damn the Decisions, LOL!
So I bit the bullet so to speak and will have a new Baker 6 speed installed some time next week. Have wanted to do this since I got the bike, just didn't plan on it this soon.
