Default Cross Bones VS Bad Boy

Has anyone had the good fortune to either own or have experience with both of these bikes and would be willing to share your thoughts? I had a 1995 Bad Boy and it was awesome but I let it go. Now I'm looking to get back on one but am considering the cross bones as an option as well. Any thoughts?

I owned an EVO springer and a twin cam springer. Both bikes ran well and handled great, but I would pick a Cross Bones for sure. It's a smoother motor. Hopefully you can find a good deal somewhere.

Thanks for that input. I'm not sure that I will ever find another bike that can make the iconic Harley sound like the carb'd Bad Boy did!

Sorry I sold my BB too. I'm hunting another now. Never owned a CB but put a lot of miles on a friends. I prefer the the BB ride better. Front end is lighter and the Evo to me is just more pleasing to ride to me.

Thanks Back Again, I think I would have to agree with you, although I haven't ridden a Cross Bones yet. I'm going to keep my options open, but a springer if at all possible!

I have had the privilege of riding both and currently own a 07 CVO Springer and a 08 Crossbones. They both handle great, the BB has the 21" front wheel and steering feels lighter than the Crossbones that has the 135 16" front tire. They both handle great as far as I am concerned. The BB with the evo motor isn't as smooth as the new twin cam and the BB had the stock softail seat on it where the Bones has a spring seat which really smooths out the ride. You can still feel the softail suspension work but the spring seat takes out the really jarring bumps.

The 07 CVO is more like the BB but it has a 200 rear tire like the Bones which handles a little different than the stock 150 on the BB. As far as I'm concerned there is nothing like riding a Springer Softail. Love both of mine and won't be selling either of them any time soon. As a matter of fact, since I added the Bones spring seat to the CVO, I'm thinking of getting rid of my 07 Road King because I enjoy riding the Springers so much more. Good luck on your search

Thanks Sarge,
I figured the Cross Bones front end would feel heavier because it's so much more beefy than the Bad Boy, but wasn't too concerned because so many people had complained that the Bad Boy front end was heavy! I guess it's just what you are used to. I'm on the hunt now, but the wife would really like to see me sell the '71 XLCH and I'm not sure I want to do that yet!
BTW, that is one sharp bike!

Hey Back Again, I've always wondered how the original bars would look in black and now I know! Where did you get them? It would have been hard to improve on your bike, but they did it.

Well the Springer front end is heavy weight wise. My wife has no problem lifting her bike up off the stand but she can't lift my CVO. That is one of the first thing I noticed was how heay the bike was picking it up off the stand. Way heavier than my 09 Nightrain.

I know the Bad Boy had one of the lowest saddle heights out there so I'm wondering if that lowered center of gravity combined with the larger front wheel and heavier front end is what makes it that much harder to get off the stand? It definitely does take a bit of a ****** to get her upright.
