I'm helping a guy with his 2010 fls...the right rear turn signal/running light isn't workiing...left side is fine....so I checked th bulb and was suprised it was a single pin 1156 bulb...the wires running to the fixture only had two wires...purple and a gound wire that attached to a tab on the fixture...so I looked under the seat..and found that purple wire...and something else I had never encountered...a pigtail arrangment, where the plug from the dash area plugged into this pigtail which was hardwired to a small black box...no number or name...there was another set of hardwired cables that pluged into the harness running to the rear..
I was able to see 12 volts on the red wire side, but only a half volt or so comnig from the dash area on the purple wire...I pulled the dash and the three position switch seems to be working fine and was solidly installed and then taped in place.. there is a large, 14 or 12 gage wire going to the center lug of the switch and then two smaller red wires on the outside lugs...
so the question is....were does that red wire, that is carrying the 12 volts to the rear of the bike....become the purple and red wires going to the rear....is there somehting under the tank? or is it happening at the fuse block?
I'm not a nasa engineer so I'm able to make sense out of the "schematic"...
