I have Python 3's on my bike and for several reasons I need some pipes which are quieter. Are the SE's any louder than the stock pipes? I don't know anyone who has them here. I know the old SE's were but not sure about the newer ones which the dealer sells.
Thanks in advance
SE'S are not that loud. i ran cycle shack slip ons on my bike for almost two years they sounded real nice and performance wise they are highly rated price is right and if your only running the slip ons you should get away with out having to change air flow .
I had the 07 Se's and yes they are louder then stock but still very quiet. Performance wise they are a waste of money as they are still way to restrictive. Get a set of rush mufflers, they have interchangable baffels that will suit your sound and performance taste at the same time.
Rush pipes will get you more power and they can be had with reasonably quiet baffles. I have the louder Rush slipons, and the cops don't even look when I go by, they are just about right and have a good sound.
thanks guys!! the main reason I want something else is this Fuelpack has to go. I can't get it right. My plugs look ok but no blackening of the exhaust pipes at their tips makes me believe it is running lean and it is bothering me. I took the pulgs out and they look ok but i know it isnt right. I thought going to the SE's would be ok to do without a fuel management system and I am just tired of worrying about this. I may just go back to stock until I feel like trying it all over again : (
If your sick of the fuelpack, then drop it and try running a good slipon. As long as your not changing anything else you should be good to go.
I had some luck finding a set of new in the box HD SEII slipons on ebay, great sound, deep but not too loud.
Good luck, its easy to get frustrated sometimes. Try to listen to a few other bikes to get a ballpark idea of what sounds good to you. Keep in mind it may be a little different on your ride.

SE slip ons are a waste of money
You know the SE slip-ons are a waste when the sales guy at the dealership tells you they are a waste of money. Well, he didn't use those words, but he pretty much said they aren't much of an improvement over the stock pipes because the EPA regs still have them pretty toned down.
Larry:
If your plugs are looking OK, I wouldn't worry about being too lean. The end of the tailpipe is not a good indicator of mixture unless it gets sooty, which means you are too rich.
If you are changing mufflers because the Pythons are too loud, fine. But if you are changing because you think you are running too lean, yet your plugs say you are not, then you need to think about this a bit.
