Next couple of weeks will be rough....
I have a new shifter coming in, more chrome (damn - I hate this disease chromitis...) and an oil cooler.
Gotta fix the rear head rocker gasket - leaking.....dang...
I'm staying with the Heritage theme and going with Wide White Walls from Metzeler. Hopefully they will give me good traction.
Anyone have these type of tires on their bike?
As to keeping them clean, a couple of suggestions. First, get rid of the stock brake pads and install Lyndall Z pads front and rear. You won't have any more brake dust to deal with, and as a side benefit you'll stop much better, too.
Second, to clean them just get some Simple Green in the spray bottle, spray a little on a clean rag and wipe. Follow up with a dry rag. A few minutes is all you need.
Finally, get yourself an inexpensive bike jack (I got one from Cycle Gear for $49). Don't agonize, all you want to do is jack the bike up to the point where both wheels are off the ground. The front wheel is easy. To do the back, just sit down on the garage floor and do first one side, then the other as you spin the wheel. Piece of cake, and the result is worth it.
