Default Brake dust?

I just got my Xtreme Machine Reaper wheels and I'm having an issue with break dust. Got the wheels put on Saturday and have ridden maybe 100 miles and my back wheel was coated with brake dust. Any clue why?

2nd question ... anyone know of some good foam on, spray off wheel cleaner? These wheels have a lot of jagged edges and cleaning the rear was a pain in the ****... it would be nice to spray the wheels down... spray on some cleaner and spray it off.

Lyndall pads will help a bunch.

Talk with Ur dealer or auto part store to see what in stock to help ya clean them.

I got the HD wheel bush for spoked rims, make a big diff in cleaning time..

i also run the Lyndall Z pads,, & just like ANY other pad out there they make brake dust

brake pads by nature start out thick, & when they're thin you swap em out for thick pads again

there is no magical dustless pads out there

fact of life

AMEN to that, NorCal Dog! I switched to the Lyndall Z+ pads and found them to dust just as much as stock. Granted, it's a lighter colored dust, so you don't notice as much. But in a way, that's a worse situation. Brake dust is corrosive. If you don't notice it to remove it, the damage will be done by the time you do notice.

Whats got me confused is there was never any dust with my old wheels? Seems like me switching out the wheels and rotor created the problem. Could it have anything to do with new rotors? Knowing that the brake dust is corrosive is whats got me nervous as the wheels werent cheap and I'm going to have to stay on top of cleaning them every couple days.

Perhaps your pads are still bedding in to the new disks.

Organic brake pads such as those from Carolina Biker still give off dust, but it is non-corosive and hasn't harmed my Xtreme Machine wheels for 8 years and 70,000 miles. I'm on my first set on the rear and my second set on the front.
