Decode EVO Engine Number?
I'm getting out of the game since my dad died - just not the same cruising without him. No fun! I'm gonna look to sell my 98 Fatboy 95th model in the near future if anyone becomes interested.
Thanks.....

Based on that info, and using my EVO engine number/VIN as a guide, a VIN decoder shows that the engine you are asking about, could be from a specific bike.
The only number I can't verify is the number "9" in that engine number sequence... my EVO engine only had a nine digit engine number... but the first four digits of that engine number should correspond to the VIN of the bike, that engine came from, like on my EVO...
The number 9 throws me... so without the number 9 caveat... here is what my decoder (no guarantees it's correct) says about that engine number...
It's from a 1999 FXSTC (1340cc engine), and the last five of the serial number is 22716...
So, if the decoder is correct, there should be a 1999 FXSTC Softail Custom somewhere, that is missing its engine, or had its engine swapped out for something else, and you have its OEM engine...
Here is how I understand the codes from an online VIN decoder...

Using the codes that are shared by the VIN, the decoder shows the following info on that engine number: BKLX922716
BK is model = FXSTC (same as model designation from VIN, digits 5 & 6)
L is engine displacement= 1340cc (same as engine designation from VIN, digit 7)
X is year= 1999 (same as year from VIN, digit 10)
"9" maybe the check number for the VIN, (not sure on this one, because it is out of order/ digit 9 in the VIN) it could be the wild card that throws off my entire decoding of that engine number
22716 is the assigned serial number (same as last 5 of VIN, digits 12-17)
If my decoder is wrong, hopefully someone will speak up and point out the correct decoding of that engine number...
Excellent.....!
Thanks for that info.... I will save it for future reference...
