OK, that's an obvious scam. But what about this one? It's not a CVO, and the price seems too low. Is it a scam or someone who is giving away his bike because he is too lazy to do his due diligence? https://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/m...220200561.html Year: 2011 Make: Harley-Davidson Model: FLHTCU Ultra Classic EG Model Type: Cruiser Displacement: 1584 Cylinders: 2 Finance Advance: $8,685 MSRP: $20,999 Avg Retail: $9,700 Auction Wholesale $8,265 Clean Trade: $7,890 Fair Trade: $7,095

that looks more legit than the op.
i generally don’t trust much from things like the marketplace or Craigslist. But that doesn’t mean they’re always a bust. Most here thought I was getting hosed when I found my anniversary softail springer for $3400 at rumbleon.com, but given that it’s a legit dealer and there were 67k miles, I felt confident. God knows what the original owner sold it for to them. There are deals out there and some just want to get rid of unwanted garage queens. People just need to be realistic about what they may be getting.
I'm not about to send them money; I'm asking how he can get money from me if he doesn't exist or the bike doesn't exist. And I'm not about to wire money to someone for a bike I've never seen. What kind of fool does that? Excuse me for not understanding how they can get money from me.
Several have mentioned some of the ways these scams work... there is not just one, but several versions of this scam......
You're just seeing the hook... the thing to get your attention and interest... People get scammed because of greed.. like buying that bike for $2000... believing something too good to be true
You don't always have to SEND money, sometimes just clicking on a link, or calling a phone number will cost you money... and no, you won't be able to sue..
The scamer is real, and he'll be gone long before any law suits or enforcement action can be taken against him...
If you really need to know about this particular scam, contact them. Tell them you really want to buy the bike, and then all your questions will be answered.
