Clearing ECM codes
Hey guys, I can spend hours trying to find this threat on line but it really is a simple question i think. lol. I have a late 2003 Heritage Classic Softail that Fuel injected. After trying the access the error codes by the book I found out that it is much easier using the 2004 year model process. (previous procedure was to jump pins 1 nd 2?) The reason I ask is this. I installed a PC5 which performs beyond expectations until one night while riding home. Come to find out the ECM plug was coming loose which caused 10 ECM fail codes (1-10) to show up. After securing that so that it never happens again, (yes dielectric grease was applied). The bike was again running great and hopefully the stalling at the red light issue was also cleared as I replaced the TPS. Now when I start the bike up the check engine light come on after a few seconds and accessing the codes the same 10 appear with the letters CLR after each one. I need to clear these codes so I know the problem is fixed but can not seem to find a way to do that without amputating a leg and taking it to the Harley shop.
Any help would be sweet. Everything I have been able to find is on newer models and CVO's

I could copy/paste what you want, but you can google the same thing.
Old codes, new codes, correct them and move on.
Clear them, see which ones come back up and deal with those.

After hours of watching and reading videos and posts 1-10 with clr after them means they are all clear no codes found. Check engine light still came on for a second but there are no codes. Hmm bike runs great so I guess it’s ok. Thanks for the info though.
Thanks. It does come on when I turn the ignition on then goes out as soon as I start the bike then comes back on for a second after start up but then goes back out and doesn’t come back on. I did not see any codes with clr behind them which makes me feel better. I hope to have a long relationship with this bike even though my friends tell me to get a newer one. Heck this one only has 34,000 miles on it.
I have an 05 Deluxe that I'll be riding untill the wheels fall off and I cannot put them back on again. Folks will always tell you to get newer but if you like it and are riding it, just remember that it's your scoot not theirs.

A historical code, is a code from a problem(s) that caused the ECM to set a code(s), but then the issue(s) cleared itself...
After a certain number of engine cycles, if the codes don't pop up again, the ECM will drop them from memory, and it will be back to normal operation...
It is set up that way, so if you get intermittent active codes, a tech can still pull them for a certain amount of time, to see what's going on..
If you know someone who has one of the old Harley Code readers... you can then erase the codes for good. There will be no historical codes, and no waiting for the proper number of engine cycles for the ECM to drop the historical codes...

Additionally, If you know someone with a powervision tuner, they can do the same... You don't need to have a tune license to use the PV Tuner to see or clear codes on any Delphi EFI Harley...
FWIW... I have a 2003 Heritage EFI... I bought it new in 2003, had an intermittent issue with a bad plug wire. So I bought and used the Harley code reader to check and clear that code... it does work
I eventually bought a PowerVision Tuner, to tune one of my other bikes. It would work for codes on my 2003, before I bought a license to use the PV to tune my '03 also.
As is.... it sounds like all is well and you can ride with confidence... and just wait for the historical codes to clear....
