Indicator not flash when running or charging
Hi
I am new to these forums so apologies if i am posting in the wrong place - i have an about 1995 softail flstf that i imported from USA to UK 4 years ago and have just done a refurb and respray also taking off all the passing lights and running lights for uk use. BUT i have a really irritating problem i dont seem able to fix and i think i have tried everything ( note however i am a mechanical engineer by trade and not gifted electrically!!! - if you get my drift) .... the problem seems to have 2 parts
1. The bulbs for the indicators have 2 coils (the housings i use have blue wire to the indicator coil and purple to the flasher coil) - ONLY on rear right i must connect to blue (instead of purple) wire to make the circuit work otherwise right side indicators dont work - left side is fine - NOTE this is with engine NOT running. (Hence problem 2)
2. With wiring as in 1 above the indicators both sides work fine UNTIL i start the bike (OR attach the charger) - then the right indicator will flash once or twice then stay full on (no flash) until iturn off the engine (or disconnect charger) and then it will flash again
I have been tearing my hair out looking for this - has anyone seen this or similar before please
