yeah it could have the original oil in it. Mine had the original tires and they were scary when I rode it too an Indy I paid to go through it to see if there was anything I missed when I bought it. I didn’t have to go far luckily or I would have trailered it.

I was in the same dilemma and decided on the 2014-2016 Project Rushmore was the best bet for the money. Didn't work out that way, had a friend in a bind money and health wise and ended up with 09 Softail Custom with 19k miles. The way things worked out I was able to keep my other bike for 2 up riding for touring.

You can always look at an evo.😁 No tensioner problems.

what years were good for Evos? I’d be happy with that. Are they still easy to get parts for and work on?

I don’t know specifically as far as what years are necessarily best but they do seem a lot easier to work on to me. I also like that they’re carburetors vs. EFI. You can still get parts easily. I know people that prefer evos and others that prefer big twins. I think some evos were known to have base gaskets leaks but hey, it’s a Harley. 😂😊 Good luck finding your bike!

EVOs were good bikes.... they had some cylinder gasket issues if hopped up, but stock up to a bolt in cam, they were pretty solid... The only "con" to the EVO years, if you get a softail, they did not have a balanced engine, and you could feel the "buzz" in your grips and footboards at freeway speeds... IIRC.. it was the worst at about 72-75 MPH, on my EVO Heritage

I would say if you are getting an EVO, get the newest one you like/can afford.... that will get you any upgrades made during the EVO run...

I had a 1989 EVO Heritage with a Stage I (high flow air cleaner, exhaust, and tune)..... I had that bike for only for 3 years and 25K miles... but that thing just ran. I did nothing but what the maintenance schedule called for, and filled it with gas.....
