Default Trans drain plug ,crossed

New bike ,changing all the fluids and I cross threaded the trans drain plug !
I got it back in all the way with a new O ring and some thread sealer , BUT it did not get tight , just snug.
Will I make it 10 miles to a shop to have it repaired , or do I need to attempt it on my own?

Have you considered re-tapping it yourself? Just know the thread size / shape and buy the tap. And a new plug.

When I bought my Night Train, the previous owner stripped out the transmission drain plug so bad that when I removed it to change fluids all the threads just came out. I used Time Serts to provide a more permanent fix vs a helicoil, I like having a steel insert instead of a spring. It's quite a bit more expensive but it hasn't leaked a drop since. You want kit " 0122A" to fix any of your drain plug threads.

Thanks for all the tips and Ideas.
I bought a tap and plug 1 size up , at the local auto parts store
and retapped it , the plug went in well and tightened up.
40 miles and not a drop leaked !

I wish more folks took the time to do this, good job! It can be difficult, but is the right way to approach it.

Why did you buy bigger, though? Generally, for a stripped bolt hole, usually can be the same size.
