Default Throttle Lock

I bought my 2000 Softail 18 months age and it had an electro-mechanical dealer installed cruise control. It holds the rpm where you set it and releases with a touch of either brake or clutch, still works great after 21 years. It replaces the right side switch housing and has its own button. I also find it handy to warm up the engine. I have the original paperwork but I believe the manufacturer is no longer in business. If you want a pic I can post it.

As noted above in post #20, it was never proposed to be, or advertised as, a manual cruise control by the MoCo.....

Of course, prior to the early 2003ish, it's all we had....

I used it on both my shovel heads, my EVO, and on two of my Twin Cams... I never had an issue, but I never tightened it to the point where it couldn't be quickly throttled back manually, or go back slowly on its own.. Certainly wasn't the safest, best way to do it,,, but it was all I had for many years...

I used mine on a 23 day 16,000 mile + trip. It did what I needed it to do and never threw a code.

What are you smoking? Anti guns? In that case, literally everything is dangerous in the wrong hands. Why you would choose that comparison is beyond me.

Cruise mate is awesome, flick of the thumb and its locked, index finger push it back to use throttle, best lil device - i think you can still get it through JP cycles.

A few years ago I rode a 4000 mile trip on an '03 Fatboy. I didn't have any kind of cruise control so I bought a "cramp buster" paddle that goes on the throttle grip. I still had to hold the throttle open but the paddle made it much easier and relaxing on long stretches.

But you could have used the "Throttle Tension Screw". Just tightened enough to close by hand if needed. Ever seen the stunt drill teams? I use the Cramp Buster too but on long straights I use the Tension Screw so I can take my hand completely off the throttle.
