Default 07 FLSTSC front axle help

Have apart my 2007 FLSTSC front end to install rake kit (remove negative 7.5 degrees). The problem I hit a large rock @ 100+kph previous and on dis-assembly found my front axle bent 40 thou. at left end, and fender hub left side loose. Re assemble in the 2007 manual is incorrect/not up to date with such things as nylon washers and o rings (not found on mine) which did not exist on my bike. This bike was no longer made in this model the next years. There is nothing on the front fender hub and nut except a picture with no instructions. The nut portion has 4 holes in it for a special wrench but where do you get one etc. This nut is very loose allowing the hub to spin in the fender bracket. How tight?? There is no correct diagram for assembling the axle, fender, and wheel.showing the correct spacer use including the orientation of the one? Teflon sided washer on the brake side spacer (PS not the one on the brake arm!). Any one familiar with this assembly and what looks like a HD parts/design change-up which did not make the book? I have the 07 manual and parts books. Is there a separate dealer instruction on this?. Any help appreciated.Tx Bri

I'm a little confused..

Are you saying that your parts manual diagrams, and the service manual instructions do not match what your bike has.....?

Are they Harley Davidson factory manuals....?

If they are not Harley Davidson Factory manuals, I would consult an official HD factory manual..

If they are HD factory manuals, I can't be of specific help to your dilemma, but want to share some "quirks" I've found in my manuals over the years.....FWIW...

I have three bikes: '01 Springer FXSTS, '03 Heritage, and 2016 Ultra Classic. I also had a 2012 Ultra limited (prior to the '16 Ultra Classic)..

For each of those bikes, I purchased Harley factory Service, Parts, and Electronic Diagnostic manuals. I found them all to be correct in the pics, and parts for the various bikes... with two caveats...

1) There were sometimes updates to service procedures that get updated in subsequent manuals, but if you bought one printed prior to the change, your manual won't show it.

An example would be the torque spec/procedure for the early twin cam compensator bolts. I only learned about the change from Service Bulletin #M-1170, dated 5/27/2005, which changed a year after I bought my manual in 2004...

So I suggest you search for any Service Bulletins for the procedure you are attempting, as it would reflect any running changes made to the procedure..

2) Often the MoCo will update a part number. If you have an early manual, it will show the "old" part number. If the old part number was superseded by a new/different part number, the older manual will not show it.

For example, many of the superseded parts don't show in my '03 parts manual printed & purchased in 2004.. But my 2001 parts manual was printed and purchased in 2017... many of the part numbers in that copy have aserisks after the number, which designate them as a superseded part number, not the same as OEM at the time of manufacture...

I suggest you use one of the online parts sites that will give you exploded diagrams with the new parts numbers.

But be aware, the newer parts manuals will upgrade the part number, but sometimes not the new part picture... For example, in 2006 HD went to a new dipstick without a separate o-ring (part #62845-00A). But in the earlier parts manuals, they will show the new superseded part number, but the pic is still the older (part #62845-00) dipstick that shows a separate o-ring..

Good luck with your repair, hopefully someone who tackled that exact repair can chime in with specific help for you..

Default Front Fender Collars

I found a guy that makes these collars as Harley never sold them individually. VTWIN manufacturing used to make them as well but they are no longer available there.

try Sick ***** in Florida. Just got mine and they were amazing with USA made spherical bearings and polished 316 stainless steel.

Dude is named Kirk.

hopefully this helps someone.
