startup issue
Once I got home, I removed battery cables, cleaned them, put them back on, removed ground wires under the seat, cleaned those contacts and put them back on. I dont really see any problems, battery voltage is about 13v. I've had this bike for about 2 months, no work has been done on it, 7000 miles, Any ideas?
I don't trust it now getting me to work and back or riding around in general until I can figure out what caused this.

My guess is it was a loose/bad connection that you unknowingly fixed by "pushing" on it..
I'd go back, trying to remember each fuse, connector and wire I pushed on...
Unless it's a loose bolt, you probably won't see any evidence of a loose fuse or connector.. So I'd remove/separate each fuse and connector I touched. I'd inspect the pins/blades to make sure they are clean, maybe even hit them with a spray electrical cleaner. I'd then firmly reinstall the fuses, and I'd add dielectric grease to the connections after cleaning and before reassembly..
There have also been reports of the ignition switches in the tank console, getting dirty contacts. That causes intermittent starting/running issues. You could disassemble the ignition switch, clean all contacts, hit them with dielectric grease, and reassemble...
After that, I'd ride it.. it will eventually tell you if you didn't find/fix the issue...
All part of the charm of riding a motorcycle...Last edited by hattitude; Aug 4, 2021 at 09:20 PM.
So I have been, like crazy for the last 3 weeks, in the pouring rain, heat, etc. and the problem has not happened since.
