Awesome... Yeah, that hot cmment makes a lot of since, but the foot print came already on the bike when I bought it last week. It's sort of on their now and will require a bit of eblow grease.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Windex and some 000 steel wool. Works excellent and does not scratch, or scuff.

Gents:

I've had the same issue. Best I found was to run the bike until hot. Park it (off your driveway) and spray some Easy-Off Oven Cleaner on it. Wipes right off and no scratches.

Cheap & easy.

Forgot to mention...I have a fatboy with Screaming Eagle slip ons. The HD boys designed the rear passenger footpeg to go between the pipes. So the heel melt thing happens all the time. Was just about to drop about a grand on a set of V&H pipes, tune up, and dyno and ran into a new product. It's an exhaust guard from a company called www.jerzeecustoms.com. They are relatively new and their line is small (even though they have 3 choices of the exhaust guard). For about a hundred bucks, I picked one up. Should get it by end of week. I'll let you know how it goes. It looks simple, clean and should work well. (Wish I had thought of it).

I use lacquer thinner on a rag and works great. Don't have to worry about scratches.

I have found that if you catch them early.... Meaning that they do not cool and get heated again... They will come off with a simple wax. No worry of scratching... I check the pipes at the end of most every ride. If there is tar or anything, I let it cool to warm, and throw some waxing frenzy on it. That wax keeps its protection to 1600 degrees and works well....

Got arubber tennis shoe mark from a passenger on my pipes. Has anyone got a way for taking that off?
Get the pipes real hot, spray WD40 on a clean rag, and rub. Takes a few tries, but the goo will come right off.
