Default 2000 Heritage Softail Saddlebag Options

Good Morning everyone! I inherited this bike from my father after he passed last year. It was his fathers before that who also passed a couple of years ago. I am a huge gearhead, but have been relatively ignorant to the world of motorcycles. I've always been a huge car guy and have had various projects over the past few years and have another one now, but until I had this softail I had no real interest in motorcycles. I have been slowly getting the bike into running order and have put about 120 miles over the past couple of weeks. Here's my problem: I am not a big fan of the saddlebags. I would like a much cleaner, non metal "bedazzled" look. I am a big fan of the 2018+ all black Heritage softail saddlebags, but they don't fit my bike. I have been looking at different conversion mounts, but haven't come across anything that would fit quite what I am looking for. Would anyone have any recommendations?

I have a very clean, simple saddlemen seat on the way and will be putting the standard chrome spoked wheels back on, but eventually going to a black painted lip with chrome spokes in the next year.

Thank you for the assistance!

Years ago, I had Osprey make me a set of bags for my 2000
At two yrs old the stock bags were already sagging. I sent them to
David and he used the orig bags as a pattern and made me a set.
I knew when the box arrived they were heavier.
Those things were stout !!!! Lids reinforced. No studs. No blingy
hoo-ha. I think it was $450? That was 2002 though.

I put a set of bags off a 17 on this one. Just less studs etc. Not crazy
about the red medallions. These bags are truly garbage though. Paper
thin. Even the sides were caving in. I made inr panels for them.
They already had a kit for the lids etc.
Eventually, I might take these to Stockton Leather Works and have them
do the same thing. I'll bet it'll be a grand ($$$$) though.

I have a couple options for you. I have a set exactly like byersmtrco has, brand new take offs, or you do something like the Leather Pro's Retro Bag seen here on my 05 Heritage, and they will mount right up, and quick release. Best made mounting system in the business and the quality is second to know. Willing to sell either.

I recently bought an 05' Soft-tail Springer Classic that had a set of bags that look like yours (the ones in the background). Mine are leather covered hard bags however. They say HD on them with badging that matches the seat, so I'm guessing they are for the bike. They also have three point mounting with a steel tube framework. Very rigid mounting. My only complaint is that the back side is shaped so that the interior of the bags are much smaller than the outside indicates.

I do quite like those Leather Pros, actually! Those are the ballistic nylon, yes?

That is very true. They are small inside. Better than the new ones (18+)

That's a SHARP Springer

You're bags are OEM HD, they ran that style for a few years or so. But, I do not believe they were originally on the Springer. Hopefully a Springer guy can help with that. I have the exact bags for my 05 Heritage Softail Classic, these bags are monsters, largest leather OEM bags going, except for the Road King. If your bags are "leather covered hard bags" then there's a stiffening kit. HD Softail bags were always soft sided, this is why there's so many companies making stiffening kits for them. I find these bags to hold so much gear, the stuff you don't need to carry in and out of the hotel every night on a road trip. Everyone worries about theft, but you really have to have big ***** to walk up to a motorcycle and open a saddlebag, if most of you have traveled, 99% of the hotels will allow you to park right outside the front door. I know IHG's do. Sorry I got off topic.
