Default 08 Softail Custom questions

Just picked up an 08 FXSTC 105th Anniversary Edition, upon getting it home and doing some inspecting, I found mounted along the front top of the battery HD p/n 68956-07 (Security System Antenna)
AFAIK the bike does not have security and did not come with a key fob, the red key on the speedo face lights up for a few seconds at start but goes away.
Is it normal for the antenna to be mounted without the HFSM?

Came with V&H big radius 2 into 2 pipes, but I am not sure what baffles are in them. Seems quiet to me, after having SE 2 slip-ons with Big City Thunder baffles on my 04 FXSTI TC88, any easy way to tell what is in the pipes?

Thank You.

Don't know the answer - but I just wanted to complement you on the bike. Nice acquisition!

It seems like a waste of money to include the alarm FOB antenna on a bike without an alarm...... but I don't know if that's a reliable sign of an HFS bike with the optional alarm..

NOTE: I have experience disarming the TSSM alarms that have the pushbutton FOBs, and the hands free alarms with an ECM (CanBus bikes), but no personal knowledge/experience of how to disable the alarm on an HFS alarmed bike... This info is 2nd hand...

I've heard that a dealer can put the alarm into "service" mode, and the alarm is then deactivated. This is not the same as transport mode. The caveat to service mode, is that once one of the assigned key FOBs gets close enough for the security system to detect it, the bike's alarm is reactivated...

I once read a forum thread about someone who wanted his HFS alarm deactivated. His dealer put the alarm in service mode, and then pulled the batteries out of the key FOBs, so the FOBs wouldn't transmit. The dealer told him if he ever wanted to use the alarm again, all he had to do was put the batteries in the FOBs so they would transmit, get one close to the bike, and the security system would reactivate. The alarm would then continue to function as designed...

Again, this is all second hand info... hopefully someone will post up who has experience with "service mode"....

Nice choice... If you did not get the key fob, the security system is not working or it was bypassed. Go to the dealer and see if they can program you a new one.

I may have it figured out. I pulled trouble codes and for "S" I got no errors and p/n 68921-07 which is a regular turn signal module. So someone pulled the HFSM or it was never installed and I got the antenna as a bonus. Debating getting one for the insurance saving or forgetting about it after reading the problems they can cause.
Also my V&H BR have the stock baffles I believe.
