2012 FXS Blackline with 13k miles that I've put about 800 miles on. Been riding for 12 years but this is my first FXS. Previous owner put on a Screamin Eagle air cleaner and tuner, and Vance and Hines longshot pipes. They had it dyno'd but I'm not sure if they used a preloaded map or created their own map.
When it drops below about 60 degrees, the bike feels like it's slipping when I'm running through the gears on the highway at 80-100% throttle. It's only a second or two after I shift, then it seems to pull normally. Since it only happens in colder weather, it makes me think that it's an issue with the tune and maybe not with the transmission. I greatly appreciate any thoughts on where to start looking.
Hmm so that didn't seem to fix it. I took all the slack out of the clutch cable, loosened the lock not on the clutch adjustment screw, tightened the screw until I felt resistance, then backed it out half a turn and tightened the lock nut. It definitely slips in 5th and 6th gear, even when I give it only 60-70% throttle. Wonder if I should just replace the clutch. Or should I start with a heavy duty stock clutch spring?
For a clutch to fail at that low of mileage is unheard of. There is more going on with it. You will need to find out if something in the clutch has fail.
Get a service manual collect the tools and open it up. Don't go buying arts until you find the problem.
I've not paid any attention to the newer bikes but assume they still use a compensating sprocket?
Maybe the compensator is slipping under load?
I probably need to go take a dump and think about it. I do my best thinking when I'm pinching off a loaf.

Solid plan haha.

Luckily the previous owner bought a manual. I'll take the clutch plates out and see if anything looks off.
2012 with that low of miles compensator would be low on the list. With a used bike you never know what was done to it or not done. One step at a time to zero in on the problem.
