Okay thank you for all the replies and sorry I have been absent I'm usually to busy to get online much. So my bike went in the shop back in October and I just got it back less than a week agoI want to go ahead and say that I would be willing to bet that I have the most expensive 2007 Fatboy of anyone on this site. I just uploaded a picture of the bill and I will just call it 10k for the bike. I could have almost bought a brand new bike at this point. This is the invoice
You are either misunderstanding what you are being told, the shop is taking you for a really big ride, or a combo of both...
You need to be more proactive.... You need to go to that shop and tell them you want to see the damaged parts (I'd take pics), and want to know exactly what's "shot" in the transmission..... Have them explain what's broken, why they think it broke, and what are your options for repair/replacement...
You can get a "Grudge box" gear set from Baker transmissions for your bike, much better than OEM, for $4K... You can get an entirely new Baker DD7, 7-speed transmission, case and all, for $4,700.

doesn't tell us much without seeing the left side of that receipt.
