Been searching the forums for seat recommendations. Sorry if I missed one, please link if there is a good forum. I'm looking for a 16' Heritage Softail. Used to just do poker runs, but now we're doing more trip riding. Rode to North shore last summer and want to do more trips like that. Wouldn't mind a backrest for both rider and passenger, but not necessary. Anyone have a good link or recommendation? Thanks in advance.

There are a lot of good people here with lots of experience and good ideas to go with it. Why not give this Forum a chance?
I am looking in this forum. Just wasn't sure if there was a post somewhere here that already covered this. If there is, please post link. If not, I'm open to any recommendations.
Have you tried messing with the search function at all? Maybe some different search terms and see what posts pop up. Seats are a pretty hard thing to determine- what works great for one person may not work so great for another -
I have a Corbin leather seat, others Ive talked to didnt like them - but I can sit on it for hours with no pain or discomfort - some people like the stock seat, I think its too hard to determine based on forum opinions - The best way is to go to meets, rallies etc. find bikes and talk with the owners - most people will let you sit on their mount to at least get initial impressions of the seat comfort. Believe it or not most people want to help a fellow rider.
I had 3 different seats modify by Mean City Cycles and no complaints with their workmanship. If you are not local, there is the cost of shipping/insurance and locating a large box for the seat.
There's truth to this indeed. But if you ask me, you can't put a price on comfort. When you're running 1500 to 2000 miles, or simply a weekender round trip at 500 miles. The seat is going to make or break you, I rode out last year with a buddy for a week, he was washed up, beat down and sore at the end of the day. Me on the other hand, I could've easily done another 2 to 3 hours in my Mean City Cycles seat.
Trisk80, if you have a 16 Heritage you should have a backrest for the passenger.

I've never had a seat done by Mean City Cycles but I have had Corbins Dual Tour with backrests and Saddlemens Explorer Dual tour with backrests. Both are very comfortable, however Corbin cost almost twice as much as the Saddlemen. Both seats are fairly hard but almost perfectly sculpted for the booty. Test sit as many as you can before you buy.
I have never sat on a more comfortable seat than the OEM riders seat on my 05' Springer Classic. I do use a backrest for my bad back but there is ZERO butt burn.

I agree with the comments above, everyone has a different opinion on which seats are good/not good. I tried several, and sent them right back if I didn't like it. I ended up with a Corbin gunfighter seat and I really like it. All I can say is if ordering online, check their return policy and make sure it's not an issue to send the seat back if you don't like it, you'll know right away on most of them!

It is hard to recommend a seat for somebody else. Not every butt is shaped the same and not every body has the same needs or requirements. Personally, I like my Corbin Gunfighter seat. it has over 125k on it and it is the most comfy seat that I have tried. If I am in the mood, I can put in a long day and not feel tired at all but to each their own.
