The V&H seem a bit high on price ($675 MSRP), and I've found them so far at Dennis Kirk for $639. Here's a picture of the kit, which shows the two seperate head pipes, from that site ...

The V&H also have a quiet baffle ($29) and a set of fishtail tips if you like the nostalgic look. Total price form a discount shop like DK wouldl likely be under $700, with free shipping. I just wish I knew how much louder than my stock pipes these will be. I don't want to break any windows.
Oh yeah ... I'm not 100% the V&H will fit the '08 models, so you'll want to double check on that. My understanding is that some of the manufacturers don't have pipes for some '07 and very few of the '08 models.
I recently rode with another '07 HSC which had the HD slip-on mufflers (baloney cut, if I remember) and I was surprised at how quiet they were. I don't think they were much more than 10% louder than the stock mufflers ... if any at all.
A friend bought a new Softail Custom a few days before me and is getting the Screaming Eagle pipes on his. I've not heard it yet (hope to early next week), and from I have heard it does add some growl to the system.

Runs great. No problems. Smooth through the gears. No popping orexcessive backpressure. I like the 220 degree heat shield. No bluing. I like the deep rumble when your cruising at 70mph.When you push it through the gears it's plenty loud for this
old Harley rider. You can buy a competition baffel for this pipe if you want it louder.I hope this helps and ya'll be careful.
