Default Speedometer gauge size

I have an 05' FLSTSCI and am looking at the speedometer/tachometer combo that HD sells (PN 70900070B). HD's parts web site says it will "fit" my bike. It is a 5" gauge. By measuring my OEM gauge it comes out at 4" across the face. Has anyone actually installed one of these on a Springer Classic? I want to replace my speedo but I want to get the right part the first time. Thanks in advance.

OBXPaul did. Ran across this while scrolling through the Q&A on HD's website. It appears "the unit is not really 5" across".

Yep, that is correct. I found a dealer in state who had one on his shelf (replacement for a wrecked bike) and he was nice enough to measure it for me. New speedo with tach on order out of Gold Star HD in Festus, Mo........now just a matter of patience.

Got the new speedo/tach and installed today. Took less than an hour to install and setup. Nice to have a tach and clock available also. Too bad the gear indicator doesn't function on an 05' Softtail.
