Hopefully this will be put to rest. What does each stage involve? Stage 1 to 4. There are quite alot of people that have there own opinions. A while back there was a great thread/post here on every stage and what each one was. I cannot find this thread/post. That person took their time and posted it. Great thread/post. What does each stage mean to you and what does it include? I myself, and I am probably wrong, think Stage 1 is exhaust, air cleaner and fuel management tuner. Stage 2, cams and anything else in the cam chest. Stage 3, big bore kit. Stage 4, head work. I am not sure if there is any more stages. Sorry in advance if I am wrong. What are your opinions or facts? Curious to see where this goes...Ray...
Sounds spot on to me. I would class it a stage 5 if you put strokers, blowers, turbos and nitrous on top of stage 4....do all those on the same motor at the same time, and that would be a stage 6558
Stage 3
Everything in Stage 2 plus head Work or Replacement Heads
Stage 4
Everything in Stage 3 plus any additional , fuel system (TB, Injectors,Blower etc)
Big Bore is not a Stage upgrade it can be added to any Stage upgrade, ie Stage 1, Big Bore (BB) is AC, Exhaust, Tuner and BB kit. Stage 2, BB Is AC, Exhaust, Tuner, cams and BB kit
Stage 3
Everything in Stage 2 plus head Work or Replacement Heads
Stage 4
Everything in Stage 3 plus any additional , fuel system (TB, Injectors,Blower etc)

I beg to differ by HD standards the big bore kit is in one of the stages. I may have to eat crow on that one seems some dealers say big bore with stage three and others not. It just seems if your going to stage four you would have to go for the big bore kit to max it out. I myself would go all the way and the big bore would have to be part of my package. I would also never go with a street league package just my feelings
Building an engine should not be a gran turismo video game experience....i wasnt happy with what the hd catalog offered When I started considering a engine build so I am doing my own research. I pieced together my current combo and had my own tuner do the dyno tune...dealer told me a power commander was inferior but here I am with 90/90 to the tire out of my 96" with nothing but a heavy breather, 2-2 drag pipes, and se203 cams.
I'm too much of an adrenaline junky as is, Stage 1 is plenty of trouble for me. Anything over that and I'm just asking for it. 10 years ago I would've had a different opinion on that ha!!!
