steering lock mod...what d'ya think?
Only had my 07 Night Train a few days and already I've noticed the paint around the headstock is getting chipped away every time I put the steering on full lock, such as when putting the lock on, there's nothing to stop the lower triple tree wacking the frame, not a massive problem at the mo but come the rainy season I guess it's gonna be more of an issue(rust etc)
Was trying to think up a couple of mods first was to try to stick a small piece of hard rubber to the tree as a kind of buffer, this would work but I expect it will eventually work free.
Second idea was to drill and tap a small hole, say bout 4mm,in the web on the headstock where the contact takes place then put in a small mushroom head stainless screw so the tree hits that instead of the frame.
Obviously I appreciate drilling into a frame is far from ideal but the hole will only be 4mm Dia and bout 6-8mm deep so can't see it weakening anything to a great extent.
Anyone else had an issue with this?(has anyone even noticed?my girlfiend asks
)any other solutions?
