Default To cut or not to cut

Hey guys and gals,
I have been laboring over this for some time and I finally decided to come to you fine people for advise. I have a 07 fxstc that I have done some major work on to make my own. The final step in my plan is cutting the frame and increasing the rake with a slight lift on the downtubes(about 2 1/2') and a backbone streach of about 2'. I am looking for that "Captian America" look with a 38 to 40 degree rake and 12' over tubes. I do not want to go with raked trees because I do not care for the offset look from the neck to the tree. I guess my question is to cut or not. I want to keep the Harley Frame and I am aware of the warrenty issues and the resale warnings. I am more concerned about safety and stablity. I am looking for advise and comments(constructive) and pictures if possible. Thanks in advance. You guys are the best.

With all you have said, I would not cut the frame. Get an aftermarket frame with your rake/ stretch numbers. But, Thats just me.

DAMN!!!, you don't believe in halfway measures do you.
As for the cutting/welding thing. If its done properly (meaning good TIG welding and proper geometry) I don't see anything wrong with it.
Gonna be a bitch moving it around in tight spaces. But I'm sure you knew that going in.

Good Luck and I REALLY wanna see some pics of that when its done.

PS I might be more interested in getting a new aftermarket frame to bolt your bikes parts on.
Makes getting the geometry right a lot easier.

I believe your best bet would be to consult a local [reputable] chopper shop, even if that means going tothe next town or two down. There are a lot of shops that not only cut and modify frames every day but build frames from scratch. There are a couple of shops around here that build frames from straight tubing and have a license to sell them with a custom bike VIN. I'd bet there are a few around you as well.

Good luck with your project, I can't wait to see it!

I'm not seeing a lot of difference in kicking out the fork tube and using a more raked triple tree. You still have a kick out from the tank.

Agreed, after market frames are cheap and made for what you're looking for. If you must cut buy a HD frame that's already hacked.
