Default Trip reset button

Hi guys if anyone can help it’d be greatly appreciated I’m replacing my trip reset button. It’s wired into the speedometer plug, does anyone know if I’m able to remove the two wires out of the back of the plug?

The two black wires

If you install the OEM style connectors onto the new wires, they should slide right into the connector you have in your hand. The factory service manual (or UTube) should show how to remove the terminals. Usually just a pin or small, flat tool to "unlock" the terminal from the housing. Crimp the new terminals onto the new wires and they should slide right in.

I've purchased several connectors and terminals from Cycle Terminal. http://www.cycleterminal.com/motorcycle-connectors.html

J&P has the reset button for around $12-$13 if I recall. And, if you only need the small cover that screws on the button to seal it, ya might as well get the whole switch (which comes with the cover) since it's just two dollars more!

Good luck!

The terminal being the big black thing on the top lol and the housing is the white bit correct? If that does come off I’m having trouble figuring it out. I took out the blue locking pin out of the “terminal” as you can already tell by the scratch marks on the plug I have tried prying that up but with absolute no success

Blue locking pin

Glad you got it. Sometimes those things can be a bugger to try and figure out how they come apart. I'm sure they just snap together at the factory.

And, just like the supermarket, when you think you've finally got it all figured out, they change things!
