Thank you everyone who commented. The speedometer wasnt the issue, it was the orange/white wire from the harness to the speedometer. The contact on the wire was corroded and not making a connection. Needless to say I found this out after I ordered another speedometer/tach. Lesson learned, check all wire connector contacts when trouble shooting.
OP owned it, imagine that. Most would have been on their way too embarrassed to post that. Kudos to him
I was letting the forum know what my trials and errors were in an attempt to help someone in the future. Not everyone gets it correct the first time. Your comment adds no value to the conversation and I think your comment was unnecessary and meant to insult. Im sure youve heard, if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all.

I'm pretty sure you misunderstood his post.....
As I read it, he was complimenting you for sharing the resolution.
A lot of people don't share their problem resolutions, and we end up in the dark as to what the actual cause turned out to be.... some don't because their egos won't let them admit to a mistake (something we ALL make)
By saying you "owned it" he was commenting that you owned up to a mistake, something that many people wouldn't have done.... There are some big egos on Harleys....
That's why he said, "Kudos to him [you]"

Steady friend, I don't think that was it at all. Many times a person posts problems and never takes the time to come back and finalize what and if it got fixed. I think you overreacted a little.

Huh? I think you misinterpreted my post.
Have a Merry Christmas
