There's a lot of options out there, but you'll want to avoid Viking. You have a budget in mind? That'll give me a few options to look into. What year is your FB?
You find the style that fits the profile you're looking for. Next is bag measurement.
What type of fasteners will you use next.
Lots of saddlebags out there, start searching for a style on fleabay, Craigs, and HDforum classifieds.
Have no idea what bags HD reccomends, worthwhile take a look see there too.
I've seen several sets fall apart rather quickly, one guy I worked with swears by them, but he's also on his 3rd set. He would've been better off buying a more expensive set like Boss or actual HD bags, He had the big rear trunk that started to separate from the plastic liner, bubbling up. Viking bags had a reputation for poor quality, unless they've gone through some extensive remodeling, then I recommend staying away. You're always going to get the good and bad stories with just about everything. But I've seen to many that are just plain junk. JMO
Good to know.
I always liked the style of the early `90s OEM leather bags on the Softails, but they were pretty small (the big leather bags that came on my `89 were big, boxy and ugly, I gave them away to a friend who had worn his bags out).
Im ordering at 23 and just waiting for the colorations to come out. Ive looked at boss bag and iron bags looked to be my best choices. I want more compact, not a huge bag that looks bigger than the bike. Dont know why but I like leather and Conchos kind of like a horse. I like those too

What does this mean? oh I got ya, ordering a 2023. Harley OEM bags are hard to beat.
I like the 40 series from boss and Iron bags theyre expensive as much or more than Harley. I just dont like the hard shell bags lockable would be nice but its not a necessity. When you search the inter-web, sometimes you miss things, thats why Im posting, someone out there might have a better mousetrap.Happy holidays.Mrbirdog
