Is there a way to "re-set" the automatic primary chain tensioner? Got a 2012 Softail Deluxe and installed the new tensioner. Recently took the primary back apart and removed the tensioner. Gonna put it back on but I thought I would set it back down a couple of clicks, install it and release the tensioner so it could sort of "re'do" its thing. Anyone out there ever done this or have any ideas?

My riding buddy has decided to install the manual tensioner in his 2012 Road King instead of keeping the auto-tensioner. I know there are riders that feel the auto tensioners are reliable, but there are many that do not. There are literally pages full of takeoff auto tensioners on ebay that have been removed.
Several variables can tighten that chain with the rider never knowing. Personally I like the manual tensioner I had on my 03 Sporty and now have on the 2000 Heritage. Only downside to the manual tensioner is popping the cover now and then if you don't have a chain inspection cover to check chain tension (not a bad thing to check anyway)
