Default just ordered a Blackout

As title says, just ordered a 23 breakout. my last ride was a 2010 fat boy. i plan on getting Vance and Hines big radius pipes. Question is do i need to flash or get a tuner? if so what? LOL
Sorry, it's been a few years since i went through this. Dealer said no air mod needed with the air system that's on it now.
thanks

I just set one up off the truck yesterday. It has an air cleaner on it already so yes you won’t need to do that. The fuel tank is bigger on the 23s and the design is what they used to be. It looks good again. As for the exhaust, he’s you’ll probably want to get a street tuner or see if you can get a 1 time tune off digital tech unless you plan on doing motor work. If that’s the case get the street tuner to keep your bike in warranty. If you don’t care about warranty go with a power vision tune by dynojet.

if you want to keep your bike under warranty just go to the Harley shop and buy a pro street tuner made by Harley Davidson, you can do stage 1, 2, 3 or 4. If you want to do power vision go to the Harley shop and tell them you want a power vision for a stage 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Since you bought your 2010, a lot has happened in the world affecting how the MoCo handles warranty claims.

Is started with the EPA going after the MoCo and signing a consent decree with them, filed on 8/18/2016.

Short version, the MoCo is required to void the powertrain warranty on any bike that is found with non-EPA approved tune or parts. On most warranty work dealers need to check the ECM tune and submit that info to the MoCo. A dealer may choose to "ignore" a non-EPA exhaust, but the tune goes right to the MoCo.

The only EPA approved tunes are from HD, and they are EPA compliant. The only EPA approved parts will be stamped EPA compliant.

The tunes we used to get (and still do if you are willing to lose your warranty) from places like DynoJet with their PowerVision, or the others are better performing, non-EPA compliant tunes.

If you want a powertrain warranty, stick with EPA approved parts & tune until the warranty is finished, then get whatever you want...

If you don't care about the powertrain warranty, go for it...

thanks bought three new HD over the years and two actually broke down on the way home from dealerships (electrical) so going with a SE tuner to be safe

I have a '23 Fat Boy arriving soon. I normally don't care about the warranty but this being an Anniversary bike, I want to keep it all HD. For the first time ever, I'm going with Screamin' Eagle slip-ons and the associated tune for it. Not going to build this one for performance.

the new SE slip ons sound like stock for the most part. Slip ons won’t void the warranty.

Correct, slip-ons won't. However, the cats are in the mufflers on these bikes and most aftermarket slip-ons don't have cats in them. A tune beyond what the SE tuner can provide is needed to get the F/A ratio back in range, and that DOES void the warranty, should powertrain-related repairs become a necessity. Street Cannons are better than stock. I've heard them. I don't need or want loud pipes. My V-Rod is straight-piped and plenty loud.
