I ordered the kit 59802-05 for my 07 night train. According to the instructions I need to relocate the turn signals. I have 2 issues with doing that.
1. the new place looks like they are not as easily seen. and look odd IMHO
2. The windshield will be 1.5 to 2 inches lower.
According to the instructions the upper clamps have extensions that should be mounted upward. I reversed the mounts so that extension is mounted downward, and it fits no problem with the turn signals as they are. In fact, if I were to mount it correctly, it looks like the windshield would contact the headlamp.
Since I am 6'3", this is the perfect height for me as I have it. It just makes me wonder if I have done anything structurally to weaken the windshield... It seems to me, the bottom clamp would be doing more work than the top one.. In my mind, the extended clam should go on the bottom, facing upward....
What have you guys done, and what are your thoughts about how I have it?
IT looks fine to me. I just mounted a windshield on my FXSTBI that was from a wide glide. It works great! Probably will not use it for normal town trips, but for the touring on the weekends it wil be great!
