Default Exhaust question

I have a 103 with Woods TW-222 cams. I know in order to get all the benefits out of this upgrade I need to get rid of the stock headers and slip on’s. But the issue is I really like the look of 2-2 vs 2-1 systems. Does anyone have stage 2 with duals and if so what system and how do you like it?

Which 2-2 look do you prefer...?

There's the Vance & Hines Straight shots #17817, which look similar to the old drag pipes?

Or the Vance & Hines Big Shots #17911...?

There are many similar 2-2 style, that look like the above listed styles, from various manufacturers. I only mention the Vance & Hines pair because I have them on two of my bikes. The old school "drag pipe look" exhausts, similar to the straight shots above, are getting hard to find...

The is a difference that should be noted between the two styles listed. The drag pipe style 2-2 pipes are true duals with all the pros & cons of true duals. The Big Shots look like a dual exhaust system, but have an unseen "power chamber" that connects the two pipes, giving them some of the advantages of the 2-1 style, with the 2-2 look...

FWIW...

I have the Straight Shot true duals on an '01 carbed 88" Stage I. I like the look and the sound. They were fairly easy to tune. The bike runs well.

I have the Big Shots on an '03 w/big bore 95" and headwork. They are louder than the straight shots, took a little more tuning effort due to all the mods, and that bike too runs real well.

NOTE: the current new offerings by Vance & Hines have their "PCX technology". That is basically a high flow catalytic converter. If you should go Vance & Hines exhausts, make sure you know if you are getting the PCX exhaust or an older part number that comes without a catalytic converter

I have an 05 TC88 with V&H Straightshots. Running Stage II https://www.feulingparts.com/sku/7220 Arlen Ness Big Sucker, topped off with a DynoJet PCV. I love the look and sound. After all the work was done I scheduled a tuned. The performance was night and day, the tuner told me I'd get more out of the 2into1 down low, but it just wasn't the look I was going for. I wasn't building a race bike, just something that'll pull a lil harder down low when loaded and 2UP. She get's it done, I'm not a big guy and the GF is a peanut. I'm 100%+ pleased with the performance, but I'm always looking for a lil more.

I have a TC88 bored to 97" , street ported midrange torque heads , Andrews 54G cams , SE air filter kit, and 1-3/4" V&H Straight Shot HS exhaust. My combo needs to really flow the air. I added Big City Thunder Monster baffles. They are a simple old skool "lollypop" style baffle that flow outstanding , while still generating the necessary exhaust pulse backpressure to have good low speed throttle response. Even my dyno tuner commented he sees excellent flow numbers with Monster Baffles. Only possible issue is MB's are very loud (but its a deep throaty loud , not like the nasty crackly open pipe loud) . Im at max 95 hp and 104 ft/lb of torque at 4870 rpm. My engine hits like a sledge hammer around 4200 rpms, and No need to rev my bike past 5200 as the power starts rapidly dropping off. Really fun street engine .

Note that your stock head pipes have the cross connection mentioned as beneficial by Hattitude
I doubt you`ll see much gain by ditching them
