Beating a dead horse here. I've been watching my oil usage on my all stock (minus slip ons) 2019 107 FLHC. It's pretty exorbitant. I have to check the oil after each ride and keep a close eye on it. Never have I had to top off such a new vehicle. Bought the bike this year with 3000 on it from the original owner who babied it. It now has 9000. What I've noticed is that there is a lot of oil inside the throttle body and I can smell it being burnt as I ride. I've been running Amsoil 20w 50. I'm thinking of switching to a conventional (Valvoline) 20w50 to see if that slows the usage down. Aside from the excessive oil usage and the stupid kick stand, I love the bike. I've read that the rocker box breathers could be at fault causing excessive blow by and that Fueling cylinder head breathers could be the solution. They are $$$$ but if it could solve my issue, I'm fine with spending the money. It just seems like a crap-shoot. I run just over 4 quarts in the bike at oil change, and the level never gets past the half mark regardless of what check method I use. Typically, it's just touching the stick because any more oil than that automagically disappears anyhow. I'm aware of the 1qt per 1k miles tolerance, which is hogwash. This was a ton of money for a bike that burns that much oil. Any other recommendations to slow the oil consumption? I dig the scooter but am now pretty leary of it's ability to last.
I seem to be using a quart every 1200 miles or so. To me that's pretty nuts for a 20+k machine. If I run the interstate it uses oil even more quickly.
I think Harley's threshold (someone please confirm) is 1qt per 800 miles. Anything above 800 miles is normal. HD won't even look for a cause in that case. Oil in the TB is normal for these bikes. If it were burning through the exhaust, I would think you'd see a bit of bluish smoke.
