Checking oil level
drained oil from hose from tank
Since I didn't change oil filter
It was just changed a few days ago when I did oil change
I put back in tank 2 quarts of fresh oil .Synthetic 20 50
I started up bike for 5 min to get oil circulating.
Sat on bike with it level turned of bike waited couple minutes wiped off stick put in back in all the way and checked oil on stick
It is almost half way on stick about an inch from bottom mark.
I figured about half quart is left in oil filter?
What do ya think? Should I ad more? Keep in mind there is no full mark on this stick
Cheers!

You transmission and primary are also level checked.
That the way the majority of time it's running, so that use to make sense.
Your problem is it doesn't sound like you have a stock stick.
I would get one or find a doner to put some more marks on it.
One thing about a Softail with an oil bag, it will let you know it's too full popping the stick out. But it won't get too much in the engine or cause it to vent oil in the filter.
I personally would calibrate the stick, then get it hot from a good run.
Let it idle for a couple seconds, and with it upright, turn it of and top it to full.
That way, unless it's using a lot of oil, you should of course check it occasionally until your familiar with it but at full, most will be good to next oil change.
My 04 has 50k on it. What I do and I have never needed to add oil between changes . At 50k, it use to get down to 3/4 above add at oil change time
Now if it sets months which it now does, it all drains into the engine and it takes a lot of easy driving till it all gets in bag. (Sadly mines pretty eye candy now. I only get back to VA couple times a year now.)

and being cold it's just barley above that dimple on stick. When bike is upright level.
So I'm stopping there.
