I find it hard to believe they do everything thats listed in the 1000mi service.
That's just it, they don't 'do' all of that. They may look at it but that's all. If this 1K service was part of your original deal then by all means...it's really just an overpriced oil change. I would recommend the purchase of a service manual and start doing the work yourself.

I plan on doing all the work myself. Im just having them do it because its free. Im going to goto synthetic right before I put the bike away for the winter. I dont see a point in paying the money and doing it now when in 3 months or so I will be changing it again before I put it up for the winter
i hear ya brihvac. I've just started doing my own maintenance. It was only after I let the stealer do my 1k and then my 5k did I start to wise up and realize I was being taken.
I feel for you northerners having to winterize your bikes. It's been so hot here i'm just waiting til september, october, november, even december, when the riding get's really nice.

Me too, but there is an up side. We don't usually have to worry about if the bike will be together next weekend for a big ride. In December or January its usually snowing or something equally evil and we can get our mods donewithout worring about "down time".
The wife likes it too because she gets to see more of me then. Maybe that's not such a good thing.
Gonna have to think about that one some more.

That's what they make week days for, silly! [sm=roll.gif]It's GREAT being able to ride nearly year-round...

But I like to ride on weekdays too. Hell I'll ride in the dead of winter at night. But I draw the line at riding in rain, snow,or ice in January. Did that only once, and never will again. If it has to go back to the dealer agin in January, I'll put it in the back of my pickup. Nearly killed me and or the bike a half a dozen times in a 10 mile ride. I want me and the bike to stay healthytill itgets warm again.
