I couldn't find a thread if this has been asked before...
I am looking to relocate my speedo to the handlebar and also add a tach to my 2020 Softail Heritage FLHCS 114. Was wondering if the tachometer from a low rider S can be fitted to my bike, if yes, do I need a special harness?
Tachometer part no. 70900729B, i guess it is slightly smaller than the stock speedo as well?

yeah the brackets are available, but cant find any info on how to wire in a tach to this bike... it uses a different harness for the speedo and would need data split to the tach. Would love to use the speedo and tach from a low rider since the warning lights are built into the speedo and i wouldn't need to look down on the tank for anything,

You will probably need 2 cables.
An extension cable from the tank to handlebar clamp. The aftermarket one I found is the "Namz speedometer and instrument extension harness NSXH-3201". They have multiple lengths. I got the 32" one which was way more than I needed for a 6 inch pullback riser.
Then you will need another cable that splits the signal to speedo and tach. Harley Davidson 69201611. Its the cable used on the 2018-2020 Low Rider with the dual gauges.

You will also probably want 12100109 Frame Plug to plug the hole where the wire comes through the frame to the tank mounted gauge.
There's also a single tach/speedo combo gauge that the later low rider S uses. If you go that route you'll probably just need the extension cable.
The question is will the ECM or BCM (whichever controls the speedo) recognise a separate tach. and can i use the speedo and tach from the low rider without needing to reprogram the ECM/BCM. is this even possible is the question.
Hardware wise it should be easy to wire up but i dont know if the brains on the bike are smart enough to understand when a different tach is connected.

I'm no expert on the new bikes but I am a software engineer. Whatever device is outputting the signal, revs, speed. etc. should care less about what device is displaying the data. All the signals you need are in that wire harness, it's just a matter of separating them and sending them to your new devices. I am really surprised that Guerilla Cables couldn't help you.
