The Lepera seat is a great LOOKING seat ( I have one pictured in my sig ) and is perfectly fine on bar hopping trips, but for 250 miles with floorboardsI think it's not comfortable at all. With pegs, maybe.

Personallly, I've always like the look and feel of the stock fatboy seat minus the passenger pad. I think it looks great, and it doesn't feel too bad either. I think what you may find is that if you go TOO low ( like a Lepera ) you may wind up "reaching" a bit more whereas with the stock seat your more " on the level.

Bottom line, there are a million different seats and a million different opinions. The only other bit of advice I can offer is this ...

When you get your new seat reguardless of who's it is, immediately put blue painters tape on the front tab and all of the other sections where the seat hits the bike and try it out. If you don't like it, the tape will protect it and ou can then send it back. MAKE SURE it doesn't look like it was ever installed otherwise they won't take it back.

Best of luck !!

Have heard great things about Danny Gray seats, as well as Mammoth..they both make 'small' solo seats that are supposed be comfortable. If you aren't planning on riding over 30 miles at a time, you can't beat the LePera Barebones for the money. SUPERB quality, and looks GREAT. Rides like a cinderblock though.

I like the HD Brawler pictured above.
I also think you would regret taking off your floor boards. Once you ride anytime with boards you will feel uncomfortable with pegs. I once went from a bike with boards to one with pegs and felt really cramped and restricted. Went back to a Heritage with boards. I'm spoiled.

I second what Rick said. I have the Ice Age Solo. My butt could not have been more comfortable on the 2600 mile Sturgis trip.

So guys, what do you think the secret to the Mammoth seat is? It doesn't LOOK much different than a LePera barebones..I wonder how they made it so comfortable?

Had not heard of C&C seats....I look into them...looks great on your bike fits the lines with the saddle bags really well.
I dont ride with any saddle bags ...so I think I am looking for something a little less wide?? I will check out the website.
Here's what it looks like without the bags:

If you're comparing the Lepera Bare Bones and the Mammoth Ice Age Solo, my experience is the Lepera matches the lines of the bike better which causes it to have more of an L shape. This kills your tail bone after an hour or so. The Mammoth still matches the lines well but is more of a curved shape, which cups your butt and doesn't have any spots to start hurting. This is first hand experience... I switched from the Bare Bones to the Mammoth seat because I want it to look good and be comfortable for long rides. As I said, I did consecutive 700 mile days on the Mammoth seat with no butt pain whatsoever. I highly recommend it.
