Default 2002 harley fat boy

I have a 2002 harley fat boy that I have put a frankenstien kit on it. It has the original belt drive on it with 60,000 miles on it. It shows no sign of wear on it and the teeth on it are not cracked or broken but it is old. How long shoild this belt last?

IMHO.... The drive belts are one of those things (getting fewer these days) that Harley got right.

I will only use HD belts. I can't say that about too many HD parts...

Due to your trike kit, I would check the service intervals of a Harley trike model to see when/what mileage they recommend a drive belt change due to the trike configuration.

FWIW.....
I have 2001, 2003, and 2009 Softails, with only 20K, 30K, and 25K miles. I have a 2016 Bagger at 46K miles. The 2003 & 2016 have high HP engine mods, but I don't ride them too hard.

I have also owned two other bikes with final drive belts that I no longer own. They were a 2016 Dyna w/20K miles, and a 2012 Bagger with 40K miles.

It's totally anecdotal, but I've never had a belt problem, nor have I needed to change a belt.

I check the belts closely at each service, or any time I have to reset the belt tension, like when pulling the wheel for a tire change. That works out to a belt inspection every 5K miles or less. I plan to keep those OEM belts until I observe signs of wear, damage or deterioration. At replacement time I will use another HD belt.

There's certainly no guarantees, but I don't worry about being stranded with a broken belt. I have confidence in the quality of HD belts and my maintenance/inspection schedules.
