That's a very nice bike you have there, a true classic.

I'm a long time Heritage Classic rider, I love the way the ride, and the fit for my body build is absolutely perfect. I've also had multiple makes and models of touring bikes in my 50+ years of riding. Want I really want is an upgraded Heritage Classic model that has 100% of the full touring features of the Ultra Limited model but on the Softail frame. This Heritage Classic Limited model should include true dual side exhaust, nice wide heated touring saddle & pillion, heated grips, saddlebags that look the same and are roughly the same size as the Ultra Limited but don't have the clearance for the shocks built in thus making them with a slightly larger internal capacity, the exact same large touring trunk as the Ultra Limited, saddle bag protection bars, engine protection bars with the same lower fairings as the Ultra Limited, dual disk brakes on the front wheel, the exact same batwing fairing complete with all the touring electronic and gauging bells and whistles as on the Ultra Limited. Also, a new color would also be nice for this model a Candy Apple Metallic Maroon (NOT a 2-tone) with all black trim. You might have to increase the capacity of the rear mono-shock a little bit for the extra weight.

Yea, I know I'm demanding but if no one speaks out, nothing will be done.
Thanks

P.S. A built-in programmable garage door opener button that only works when the bike is turned on would be a nice feature that I bet a LOT of riders would like on Harley's touring bikes.
Like you, I've found that the Heritage is my favorite 2 wheel touring bike.

If I were still touring, primarily on 2 wheels, I would set up my Heritage pretty much as you describe above.

As it is, because I have a bad foot and shoulder, I primarily do my touring on a TG.

However, Mary and I have made some longish trips (3,000+ miles) on the Heritage and thoroughly enjoyed them.

If I were not also riding a TG, I would definitely go all in on a Heritage with aftermarket mods so that it had most of the features of an Ultra (at least the ones that I like). Batwing, hard saddlebags, Tour-pak & more.

Kevin,
Do you remember where you got those highway pegs?
Steve

P.S. Never mind, I found the Heel Rest Arm.

Yeah, Heel Rests add a whole new level of comfort and places to put ones feet!

They're one of those Little Things that Make a Big Difference!

I made my own touring version. Factory springer dual exhaust, Harley speakers, 1972 top case. Its a 06 heritage I bought in 2010, only put 55k on it so far. Great bike for me to tour on.
