best is always subjective for sure. I do mine the work you put into yours. But I shall line the look of the oem parts that don’t need me to relocate my ecm or other parts.

Then you should refer to the "other" thread that you thought was dead.
I used all HD parts originally....

good luck,

Yeah, the rocker boxes, cam cover, and trans cover are all from
EMD. I'm not a fan of how "porous" these "sand cast" covers
are (IMHO), but they are machined "flat" so they do not leak - currently...

So I will have to say, I've "tried" several other "options" for a battery cover, but I've never found one
that was to my liking... Here are a few pictures of "one" that I thought about using (but didn not)
because it just did not "fit" like I thought it should with a "normal height" battery....

Good luck with your endevor...

hth,

T.

I tried to put a solo "tractor" seat on my 2003 Heritage. I like the OEM heritage seat, but wanted to try the look.

I wanted the "pogo" style and bought a kit. I believe ot was from V-Twin. It had a Corbin-Gentry seat which is the same as the OEM Harley "deluxe" seat for the Cross Bones. The battery cover wasn't to my liking, I would have needed to drill into the frame to mount the front seat bracket, and change several wires to make it work.

I did not want to drill the frame, or change the wiring. After trying several things, I just gave up...

I put the OEM Heritage seat back on, then I went out and bought a Cross Bones..

I didn't like the OEM Cross Bones seat, so I put the Corbin-Gentry seat on the Cross Bones.. So that's kind of a custom touch..

Wait and you will find. A lot of people had that base plate for upwards of $300 on eBay. Had it saved the search for me and it suddenly popped up for 100 plus shipping. Score.

Congrats! One thing that @hattitude might be able to inform us about is the rear fender width
of the Crossbones vs your '03 Softail Springer. Where I am headed is that I believe that
the Crossbones fender is wider, so that frame mount is going to have some gaps at the top
where the ECM is located.

good luck,

T.

My Cross Bones has a 200mm rear tire with a 6" wide rear rim.

I have a 2003 Heritage (non-Springer) and it has a 150mm rear tire with a 3" wide rear rim.

I did a quick measurement, on both bikes.

The Cross Bones fender is 9.5" wide, and my Heritage fender is 7.1" wide..
