I buy the cheapest set of rain jacket and pants from wally-world and throw them away every once in a while. I buy the disgusting yellow, but figure I will be more visible inour Floridadownpours.
In the pouring rain, there ain't no "looking good". I know the cagers all laugh. They can laugh all they want as long as they can see me.
"best" kind of subjective and I haven't seen any that look good, but who cares as long as you are dry.
I keep a set of frog togs in my bag in the warmer months. They are ugly and have reflective stripes that show up when lights hit them. But I stay dry. and they roll up into a small enough package that I store them in a 1 gallon zip lok bag.
In the cooler months, I wear my first gear pants and jacket, they are water proof (supposedly), luckily I've never had the misfortune of being riding through a cold rain.
Funny you should ask this as I too am looking for some gear.
I'm getting ready for a trip to Myrtle in a few weeks and I've done the Wallyworld thing many times and I'm sick of it. I was just looking in the J&P cat last week and their brand of raingear looks interresting with the stirrups in the pants. I like that idea as I've had the wallyworld pants creep up on me on the highway.
The fact that they have the J&P logo doesn't bother me that much since I'll only be wearing it when it's raining out. At that point, who cares about fashion. If I was worried about fashion, I wouldn't have worn that Wallyworld crap before .... LOL
Anyway ...
Yeah, any thoughts / comments on raingear I too would like to hear it.
I'm looking for some rain gear too! I seen some at the dealer in a small stuff sack for 59 bucks. Anybody try these? Are they marked up Wally World branded for Harley?
The dealer sells a lot of raingear Rich so it's hard to say. The Wallyworld stuff is that PVC vinyl or whatever the heck it is. You'll know it when you see it.
I really like the Nelson Riggs set I got a couple of years ago. It doesn't fold up real small, but it has vebted armpits and back. Road through 200 miles of rain last year in Florida was completely dry.
&P CyclesÂŽ rain jacket and pants are the perfect combination of function and safety. The jacket's wide orange stripe is highly visible during the day, and two reflective gray stripes make you easy to see at night. The jacket is made of 100% waterproof nylon with sealed seams and a mesh nylon inner lining for added comfort. Two outer and one inside pocket. Inside is a fold-out storage pouch which can be worn around your waist like a fanny pack on those days when you just know you might run into a shower on a moment's notice. Why waste time digging through your saddlebags or tour pack? The black pants are made of the same tough 100% waterproof nylon material. Suspenders and boot straps hold the pants firmly in place, helping to stop wind-blown road spray from climbing up your legs.
$60.00 - Does this sound good ??
For some reason it won't let me past the pic. here is the URL ...
