I have a 23 heritage classic 114
Im getting older and lost some muscle strength due to illness
has anyone installed a electric reverse ln on their bike?
I think most install a mechanical reverse. I think there are 2 different manufacturers, someone will be along and provide that information.
Me, I went to a trike as leg strength and some balance issues with a 900 pound FLHTCU. Still have 3 other lighter 2 wheel bikes, Sportster, and 2 metrics that I can handle.
I had a electric reverse on my trike it wasn't very good. It would barely pull the trike up my driveway and it only has a slight incline. I used the reverse very rarely except to back it the garage. It started working intermittently then stopped completely and the motor had to be replaced under warranty. I suggest looking for a mechanical reverse. I emailed motor trike and they got back to me the next day. To bad they didn't have one to fit my bike. So I'd go with Motor Trike. They are just one company to offer mechanical reverse gear for Harleys.

I don't know of any electric reverse that will fit or otherwise mount up on a Softail.
There are mechanical reverse gears that can be installed on the right side of the transmission and operate by moving a lever on the right side of the bike. I do not have one on my Heritage, yet. But I did install one on my old Road King. They are almost all the same basic design, in that they add a gear on the end of both transmission shafts, and the lever moves a third gear into position between the two shaft mounted gears, reversing rotation of the output shaft.
