First time here so apologize if I’m in the wrong area, but I’m in a bit of a pickle. Hoping somebody could help me identify the part that I need to finish rebuilding this bike.
So my dad and I are building it. But we hit a wall with the jack shaft to starter. there seems to be a sleeve or spacer thats needed. But every kit amd jack shaft assembly ive purchased does not come with it. Even bought a starter. Local shop is no help either.
I could be mis identifying here. But what i’m calling the Jack shaft is the piece that engages to the starter however we’re missing a piece to give us the proper depth to do so anybody able to put us in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for the #25, part #31487-90 thrust washer that goes outboard the pinion gear, or the #32 coupling, part #31548-90, that goes inboard the jackshaft?
In any case, both are obsolete and unavailable from the MoCo. You'll need to find new old stock, an aftermarket equivalent, or used...
Are you thinking the gear should be engaged with the large gear?
It doesn't engage until you press the start button.
At that point the starter activates the bendix and it comes out and engages the primary gear.
Then retracts when you release the stat button.
